LCD polarizer film plastic is a special material used to produce polarizers for liquid crystal displays (LCDs). It is usually composed of multiple layers, with the core layer being a polarizing film, usually made of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), sandwiched between protective layers, such as triacetyl cellulose (TAC).
·Helps the picture to be presented clearly: Similar to a "light guide", it organizes the scattered light from the backlight source into unidirectional light, which is processed by the liquid crystal layer and another polarizing film to form a clear image. Without it, the screen will be a white light without an image.
·Make the colors bright and realistic: Block stray light and ensure that pure color light passes through, making the screen colors more vivid and realistic, and enhancing the visual effect.
·Protecting the inner parts of the screen: LCD polarizer film plastic is usually used as the outer layer of the screen "protective clothing", which is dust-proof, water-proof, anti-touch and scratch-proof, protecting parts such as liquid crystal molecules and electrodes, and extending the life of the display.
First, the raw materials of the polarizing film, such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and triacetyl cellulose (TAC), are prepared. PVA is dissolved in a suitable solvent to form a viscous solution. This solution is then carefully cast onto a substrate in a controlled environment. Through the stretching and orientation process, the PVA molecules are aligned, giving the film polarizing properties.
The TAC layer, as a protective coating on both sides of the PVA layer, is produced separately. Although the main manufacturing process of TAC does not directly involve a traditional blown film machine, the initial formation of the TAC film may utilize a modified film manufacturing technology that has some similarities to the film blowing process. In this step, the TAC resin is melted and extruded through a die to form a thin, continuous sheet. Although this is not a standard film blowing operation, the concepts of extrusion and film formation are related. The TAC film is then further processed through coating and drying procedures to achieve the desired optical and mechanical properties.
After the PVA and TAC layers are prepared, they are laminated together using specialized adhesives and techniques. The laminated film is then cut into the desired size and shape for LCD manufacturing.
Overall, the production of LCD polarizer plastics is a highly precise and technically demanding process that requires strict control of temperature, humidity, and mechanical forces to ensure high quality and performance of the final product.
